4.4 magnitude earthquake hits Palestine and Jordan

 

An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale hit the Dead Sea area on Tuesday evening, impacting Palestine, Jordan, and Israel. 


According to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the quake's epicenter was located 13 kilometers north of Nablus in the West Bank of the Palestinian territories.


The Jordanian Seismological Observatory also recorded the earthquake and noted that it was 67 km from the capital, Amman. Citizens in various regions of Palestine reported feeling the earthquake. 


The director of the earthquake center at An-Najah National University in Nablus stated that the quake had a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale and a depth of 10 km. The region is currently experiencing aftershocks following the catastrophic earthquake that took place in Turkey and Syria on Monday and has claimed the lives of over 8,000 people in both countries.
