'How to murder your husband' writer sentenced for murdering husband


Nancy Brophy, romance novelist who wrote "How to Murder Your Husband," sentenced to life in prison for killing her husband

A judge in Oregon gave Nancy Crampton Brophy a life sentence for shooting and killing her husband. In an essay called "How to Murder Your Husband," she seems to have predicted her crime.

Last month, 71-year-old Crampton Brophy was found guilty of second-degree murder.

A jury decided that she killed her husband of 26 years in 2018 so that she could get a $1.5 million (£1.2 million) life insurance pay-out.

Before she did what she did, Crampton Brophy was a self-published author,  

Daniel Brophy, her late husband, was a chef and a well-liked teacher at the Oregon Culinary Institute.

In June 2018, he was found dead in the kitchen of the institute. He had been shot twice.

Last month, she was found guilty of killing him.
