According to authorities, a 7-year-old Texas kid was shot and died in a drive-by shooting while laying in bed on Sunday night. The youngster was recognized as Paul Vasquez by the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

According to the sheriff's office, a white or grey automobile drove past the residence and fired several rounds at 10:45 p.m. local time Sunday night, one of which struck Vasquez in the chest. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.

Police said Vasquez's mother and two brothers were also at home when the shooting occurred. None of them were hurt.

"He was in his bedroom bed. "His bedroom was in front of the trailer house, and the bullet hit the trailer's home," Jason Brown said, according to KHOU-TV, a CBS affiliate. "He was initially shot and tried to tell his mother that he was shot before he became unresponsive."
