Two people were killed and another injured in a shooting in front of a church in Vista Hills, Alabama, in the southern United States, city police said.
A police officer in Stavia Hills, as quoted by "Russia Today", said three people at St. Stephen's Church were shot.
"While we were trying to figure out what happened, a suspect went into a small church meeting alone and started shooting, wounding three people. Two of them died, and the third was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of an unknown injury.
In an earlier statement, police said one person died and two were injured in the attack.
Police confirmed that they had detained a suspect and that there was "no additional threat" to the city.
The shooting occurred in front of the church just after 6 p.m. local time during a banquet, according to St. Stephen's website.
