UAE: Two dead, 120 injured . Fire breaks out after gas cylinder explosion in Abu Dhabi

A gas cylinder burst in a restaurant in Abu Dhabi, the UAE's capital, killing two people and injuring 120 others, authorities reported on Monday.



 A gas cylinder burst in a restaurant in Abu Dhabi, the UAE's capital, killing two people and injuring 120 others, authorities reported on Monday.


According to preliminary estimates, 64 persons sustained minor injuries, while 56 others had moderate injuries, according to Abu Dhabi authorities. The injured were sent to hospitals to obtain the medical attention they need.


Several stores were destroyed, as well as the façade of six surrounding buildings, by the explosion.


Residents of the concerned buildings will be provided with temporary housing until the premises can be fully secured.

The explosion in the Al Khalidiya neighborhood damaged stores as well as the façade of nearby buildings.


Authorities had previously reported that inhabitants of six residential structures damaged by the incident had been evacuated to safety. Temporary accommodation for the affected residents is now being constructed until the structures are entirely secured.
