Russia Ukraine conflict

According to Russian news agency TASS, Russia's top negotiator in peace talks with Ukraine stated on Sunday that Moscow is eager to begin discussions, but Kyiv must take the first step.

"We, for one, are eager to continue the conversation." But, as I've said before, the ball is in Ukraine's court to keep the peace negotiations going. Ukraine took the initiative in freezing the discussions, according to Vladimir Medinsky.

"Russia has never refused to negotiate, even at the highest levels," he continued. Vladimir Putin, Russia's president, has stated this several times. The only question is whether significant preparations are required for a summit meeting between the presidents."

Since Moscow's soldiers entered Ukraine on February 24, talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations have been undertaken on a regular basis.

"Do not promise us a ceasefire - this is unachievable without comprehensive Russian force departure," Ukraine's top negotiator Mykhaylo Podolyak warned on Thursday. Ukraine is uninterested in a new 'Minsk' or a resumption of the conflict in a few years. Our negotiating team is weapons, sanctions, and money until Russia is ready to totally free occupied lands."
