'Forgive my son - he had reasons for what he did,' says shooter's mother, urging people not to blame her son.

The mother of the boy who massacred 19 students and two instructors at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, claimed her son "had his reasons."

'I have no words,' Salvador Ramos' mother, Adriana Reyes alias Martinez, told CNN in Spanish. I'm at a loss for words. I'm not sure what he was thinking.

'He had his reasons for doing what he did,' she continued.

'All I want is for the innocent children who perished to forgive me.' Please forgive me, and please forgive my son. I'm sure he had his reasons.'

Ramos apparently had a troubled connection with his mother, which she disputes, and was residing at the house of his grandmother, Celia Martinez Gonzalez, when he went on the rampage on Tuesday.

Gonzalez was his first victim, as he shot her in the face before stealing her car and drove to Robb Elementary School, where he wrecked and barricaded himself inside a classroom, killing 19 children and two teachers.

His mother, when asked why he targeted the elementary school, simply said it was 'to get closer to those children.'

'Instead than focusing on the other negative aspects, I'm at a loss for words.' 'I'm not sure,' she said.

Celia Martinez Gonzalez, Reyes' mother, was the first victim of Ramos' heinous spree when she was shot in the face, with the bullet entering her cheek and exiting beneath her ear, after an argument about his inability to graduate from high school.

Ramos declared his desire to shoot his grandma and then open fire at Robb Elementary School in a series of private chats on Facebook to a 15-year-old he met online.
