Runner Dies After Collapse at Brooklyn Half Marathon Finish Line: FDNY |
According to the fire service, at least half a dozen racers were treated for various injuries they received throughout the 13.1-mile race.
The reason for the runner's collapse at the finish line is unknown, but they were rushed to Coney Island Hospital and pronounced dead, according to officials.
A runner died after collapsing at the finish line during the @nyrr Brooklyn Half, @FDNY said. The second runner to die during the race since 2014.

For the first time since the epidemic, the half marathon was run in person on Saturday, when the city was under a heat alert. At the peak of the day's heat, temperatures were forecast to reach 90 degrees.
Early in the morning, runners set out on a race from the Brooklyn Museum to the Coney Island Boardwalk.
In 2014, a 31-year-old runner collapsed at the finish line of the 13.1-mile race and died.
